Murakami Magic!

Imagine a place where authentic and high quality Japanese Izakaya style cuisine is served in an environment with incredible interior design representing the five elements of Japanese philosophy: Fire, water, earth, wind and metal… You have just imagined Murakami.

Thankfully such a place exists beyond your imagination! Located in St. Martin’s Lane, at the heart of the world-famous West End, Murakami is the ideal place for a pre-show bite to eat or a restorative meal following a long, hard day shopping up a storm in Central London.

For the uninitiated – and we are certain that you will want to learn more – Izakaya is the name of a style of Japanese eating establishment in which an assortment of delicious delicacies are served to accompany the finest Japanese beers, lagers, wine and whiskey… Not to mention house sake! And it is this unique eating experience that Murakami is bringing to London.

Dishes include fresh and reinvigorating salads, succulent sushi, Japanese-style tapas and their very own, extra-special Murakami Rolls. With Izakaya dining, food can be enjoyed quickly and conveniently, not to mention casually! However, Murakami can also cater for more extravagant meals, making it the ideal location for a get-together or celebration. And best of all, this fine food and drink from the Land of the Rising Sun is not only affordable, but also matches the quality of the very best Japanese restaurants in London.

But you could be forgiven for thinking that you were no longer in London… With its evocative interior, Murakami certainly creates a strong Japanese vibe. Comfortable and beautifully designed wooden furniture blends with a natural colour scheme which invokes those five mystical elements. An environment as intoxicating as the cuisine on offer we are sure you will agree.

Amazing Food and Ambience

Booked this place lastminute after reading reviews and have to admit last few reviews are pretty much spot on - great food, great ambience but service was a little poor. Restaurant is located on St Martins lane few doors away from Sanderson Hotel opposite Brown's Bar/Pizza Express - we arrived little earlier than our table was booked and enjoyed few cocktails at the bar and thebarman was superb he created cocktails based on your taste that were not on the menu - great personal touch and we were left in peace to enjoy cocktails and when we were ready we asked for our table and were promptly taken across to a lovely window table. Ambience is therestuarnt was great - dim lighting good music perfect for a saturday night romantic meal. We were here to celeberate our anniversary and restuarnt did not dissappoint us in term of the food or ambience. Food was delicious especially sushi rolls and good value - best dish of the night was scallops with Brocolli simply DELICIOUS. We ordered 3 starters 2 sushi roll plates few cocktails and 2 glasses of wine and a main and the bill was just over £100 which is very good value as 50% of bill was alocohol (hic hic). The only letdown on the night was service - twice they delievered someone else's order to our table and then took it back and also had to ask them to amend our bill as there were drinks on our bill that we did not order. Would return only because the food and ambienece were superb.

Excellent food and service!

My sister and I were looking for somewhere to eat and happened upon Murakami. It was quite early on a Saturday night so we had no trouble getting a table. The staff were very attentive, and we were given a warm cloth to clean our hands with, which was a nice touch. We had the Spicy Tuna Maki Roll, Roll with Tempura Prawn, Avocado Roll and Tempura Vegetables. Everything was fantastic, and I would recommend all of these dishes. We finished off with a scoop of green tea ice cream, and a scoop of lemon sorbet - my favourite! I will definitely be back to try some of the barbecue dishes.
